ABOUT US
Maison Property Appraisals is a full service real estate appraisal company. We provide an array of residential valuation services to an extensive client base, including banks, credit unions, law firms, accountants, mortgage brokers, investors, relocation companies, Realtors and home owners.
Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, we serve all of Halifax Regional Municipality and South Shore Nova Scotia.
Kate Dunsworth Casey
Kate Dunsworth Casey is the owner of Maison Property Appraisals Inc, a residential real estate appraisal company she founded in 2018. Born and raised in Halifax NS, she moved to Montreal in 1997, where she attended McGill University and began a career in banking with TD Bank after graduation. In 2010, she moved back to Halifax and settled in Kidston Estates in Spryfield, where she currently lives with her husband, Darren, their two children and their dog, Minnie. Kate left the financial services industry in 2012 when she began studying at the University of British Columbia to become a Certified Residential Appraiser. In addition to her career as a real estate appraiser, Kate volunteers with the NS Association of Real Estate Appraisers and has been very active in the life of her community as a Brownie leader, an active school volunteer and now serving on the board of the Spryfield Business Commission. She has also served on the board and continues to volunteer for Pathway to Progress Nicaragua, a non-profit dedicated to the education of children in Nicaragua. Kate loves strong coffee, snuggling up with a good book and cooking for her family. Other hobbies include hiking, biking & running, camping, gardening and home renovation.
Dave Kelly
Dave Kelly, AIC Candidate. Born in Halifax to a military family and lived across the country growing up. Started in the electrical trade out of high school, moved to Calgary for five years and completed my red seal electricians licence, moved back to Halifax in 1985 and started with Nova Scotia Power, retired from NS Power in 2018 after 33 years. Held many positions in NS Power from electrician to manager of OATT (Open Access Transmission). Graduated from Mount Saint Vincent in 2016 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Started taking coursed toward Canadian Residential Appraiser in 2017 and continue to work toward my CRA designation. Completed my Realtor licence for NS in 2019, and completed a certificate in Residential Valuation in 2020 from UBC. Proud father of two great grown adult children. And currently I reside in Dartmouth and support my wife’s dental practice when not doing appraisal.
Mark Sweeney
Mark Sweeney, AIC Candidate Member. Mark was born in Montreal, Quebec and was raised in Digby, Nova Scotia since the age of two. Mark has always had a passion for music and in 1998, attended Humber College in Toronto to study music with a major in percussion. He has been a professional musician and successful business owner of the band, Shaydid, with his wife Crystal for the past 20 years, performing across the country and internationally. In 2018, he started his Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary’s University’s Sobey School of Business with a major in accounting. In 2020, Mark began courses at the University of British Columbia toward the Canadian Residential Appraiser designation. Mark is a proud father of his adult son, Nathan, and loves to travel and spend time with his family and friends.
Dylan Gray
Dylan Gray, AIC Candidate Member. Dylan was born and raised in Sambro, Nova
Scotia. Within the community, he started off working in many areas of the fishing
industry. While in university he worked a handful of other jobs including a financial
services representative at car dealership and a boatyard worker at the Armdale Yacht Club.
In 2021, Dylan received a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University with a
major in finance. Shortly after graduation, he started classes at the University of British
Columbia working towards a Canadian Residential Appraiser designation. Dylan likes
tinkering with hands-on projects such as cars, boats and home renovations. He also
enjoys travelling and being out in the fresh air; most notably activities such as hiking,
paddle-boarding and sailing. Dylan currently resides in Hammonds Plains with his
girlfriend Kelsy and their Columbian rescue dog, Beau.
Caroline MacDonald
Caroline MacDonald, AIC Candidate Member. Caroline was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she is currently completing the fourth year of her Bachelor of Management degree at Dalhousie University. During her time at Dalhousie, she also began taking classes at the University of British Columbia working towards her Canadian Residential Appraiser designation. Caroline has a passion for travel which has taken her to over 25 countries. Most recently, she attended a two-week course at HAN University in the Netherlands to study European culture and business. Caroline also enjoys yoga, exploring Nova Scotia's incredible coastline, and spending time with her family's golden retriever; Hugo.
